• 1950s-1970s: Among the first private technical institutions in India, BIT   established itself as a pioneering institute for technical education and innovation.

• 1986: Achieved the status of "Deemed to be University" by UGC, marking its entry into the elite group of higher education institutions.

• 2000s: Recognized consistently in the top 25 engineering institutions in India by national ranking bodies like India Today and Outlook.

• 2018: Ranked 26th among engineering colleges in India by The Week and 31st by NIRF Engineering Rankings.
